Ethics for Human Resource Professional
While working in the HR department of any organization, Human resource professional must behave ethically and this can only be possible if they actually know about their professional ethics.Ethics are based on the principles, values and behaviors which is acceptable at the workplace. Few basic principles of HR business ethics are
1-Equity and Justice
Every Employees must have the equal opportunity to work and make their career progress in the workplace. HR manager must observe the practice of No Discrimination and the decisions should be on merit rather than personal and emotional hindrances. Any type of harassment either it is sexual or racial it must be condemned. Bullying (aggression, violence etc) should not be allowed in the workplace as it is against occupational health and safety laws.
2-Respect for People
HR professional must show their respect for the employees, HR professionals who have access the official documents and have access to the employees personal data they must take care to maintain integrity, confidentiality and privacy of such data. It is essential that employees feel confident that information relating to them is treated in an appropriate manner with due attention paid to the need for non-disclosure of contents outside the workplace.
Beside this there must be a fair and equitable complaints procedures so that employees can speak about the policies of the organization and an atmosphere of confidence can be promoted.
3- Fraud and Corruption
Fraud and corruption has been observed by the HR professional at Governmental and Semi Governmental level, such practices must be avoided and fair as well as transparent policy should be adopted. HR professionals must not accept gifts or benefits from the potential or existing incumbent as in future it can cause dishonesty for others.
4-Do not Build Hypothesis
As people working at the workplace asked about the up coming events, ceremonies and other related issues from the HR incumbents, so in order to avoid rumors don't build hypothesis for other, do not speak which you exactly don't know.
5-Stay Alive
At the workplace, companies usually build a CV forwarding system, hundred of people forwarded their CV's through that system, being a professional automatic confirmation message must be sent, so that the potential employees may feel that you are alive, in the same way in an appropriate manner email reply must be given otherwise you will loose your worth.
